Beef Stew with Red Wine

Ingredients

  • 3 lb 
    Beef Top Round, raw
  • 2 cup 
    Onions
  • 2 tsp 
    Garlic
  • 1 cup 
    Red Table Wine
  • 28 oz 
    Canned Red Tomatos
  • 3 large 
    Potato
  • 1/2 tsp 
    Ground Thyme
  • 2 tbls 
    Tomato Juice Puree, canned
  • 1/2 tsp 
    Ground Oregano
  • 4 small 
    Carrots
  • 1 cup 
    Beans, kidney, all types, mature seeds, raw
  • 1/2 package 
    Green Peas, frozen
  • 1 leaf 
    Bay Leaf
  • 1/2 tsp 
    Ground Basil
  • 1/4 tsp 
    Table Salt

Directions

1. Heat a large, dutch oven until very hot. Add the beef cubes.

2. Sear beef. When browned all over, add the red onions and garlic. Saute for a few minutes with the beef.

3. Add the wine and allow to cook on high heat for 1 minute. Lower heat to just above a simmer, add the tomatoes. Stir the ingredients with the potatoes.

4. Add the rest of the ingredients. Stir well and cook for about 2 hours, or until the beef is tender, stirring frequently. Add water if necessary and cook partially covered. Serve.
